The Broward 10-13 Club is an Organization comprised of retired New York City Police Officers of all ranks. We are one of the oldest 10-13 Organizations to Incorporate. We date back to February 2nd 1981, when a group of 21 retirees got together and decided to help one another by forming a 10-13 Club. “10-13” is the NYPD’s Police radio code for “Officer Needs Assistance.” The 10-13 code is sacred to all active and retired New York City Police Officers. We are fraternal as well as a social organization whose members in retirement continue to seek meaningful retiree benefits for ALL retirees and their families. We share a common bond with all the other NYPD 10-13 clubs throughout the United States. If you are a retired sworn member of the New York City Police Department, New York City Transit Police Department or the New York City Housing Police Department please browse our website, see what we are about and join our organization.
OUR HISTORY
Sometime back in late 1980, three New York City retired Police Officers from Broward County attended a meeting of a recently established 10-13 Club in Palm Beach County. When they arrived they were welcomed with the friendliness and camaraderie given to fellow officers and were asked to stay during the presentations. During the meeting coffee, cake and donuts were served to those in attendance. When the meeting was over one of the Broward retirees said to the others, "Boy, if we can change the coffee and cake into beer and pretzels we will have a hell of an organization."
And so it was that on February 2nd 1981, 21 retired New York City Police Officers got together and made history. The first meeting in Broward County was held and The Broward 10-13 Club was established. Those first charter members consisted of retirees of every rank and file. Upon arrival at the meeting each one had to sign in and they did so on the only piece of paper they had available which was the back of an envelope. We still have that envelope to remind us. Today with almost 900 members in Broward County alone we wish to always remember those who started us on this road. In honor of those retirees we place their names on this site;
John Reid, Michael J Chimenti, Michael Mazzola, Robert D. Brown, Leon Laino, James E. Dickers, Eugene W, Ahearn, Jerri Brennan, Pete Costello, James Hannon, Seymour Silver, Bill W.
